Day 13 of 30 – Why I Develop Awesome Skills

If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right

Today I discuss why it is important to develop awesome skills in order to achieve your goals.

You can either decrease your target or you can increase your effort

And now I’m put to the test when I say that because I just need to increase my effort, my body can handle this. I keep asking myself, Hey, do I need to take a break off these hiking videos? And then I’m like, well I committed to 30 days so I’m not going to take a break and I’m not going to drink coffee. I really wanted some coffee yesterday but I didn’t do it cause I’m thinking about you guys cause I committed to you and to myself and I don’t want to come on these videos and be like I drank coffee yesterday or I don’t want to skip a day and come back in two days and be like, sorry I skipped a day.

You guys would probably be okay with that. But that’s not the point.

The point is I set a challenge. The point is I need to rise to the occasion. The point is I could do anything for 30 days. It’s 30 days. It’s not like I’m telling me myself, I’ve got to do that forever. That’s how I’m looking at it and I appreciate all your support and I appreciate everybody caring about me so much wanting me to take a break. But I, would rather right now increase my effort. So I’m going to keep doing that.

My body is still asking me for some naps now and then so I’m going to be okay and take it easy on myself.

Why I Develop Awesome Skills

One more thing that can keep you from achieving your goal… this thing is big and this is actually why my channel is called develop awesome skills, not just because that’s my initials das, but also because here’s what happens:

You set a big goal and you really want the goal and everybody out there, all these personal development guys and Dave Stone’s telling you that you can go do it, you can do it, you can do anything you want to do. So then you set this big goal and you say, this is what I want. And then you start making your plan to figure out how you’re going to get it. And you realize a couple things. But the main thing you realize is that you don’t have enough skills right now to make that happen.

You don’t have the skillsets developed within to make that happen yet.

So here’s the key. When you set a goal, then you have to become the person that can achieve that goal. Because if the goal is bigger than you, then you don’t have what it takes yet to fully achieve that goal yet… but you can develop and learn all of it.

I just want to encourage you, if you don’t have all the skills necessary yet to achieve the dreams that are in your heart, you can go get those skills. But just remember a tree doesn’t grow overnight. You can’t plant a seed and expect the tree to grow overnight. You’ve got to plant the seed and then  take care of that seed. You must water the seed, then as the sprout starts germinating, you gotta give it proper shade. You must feed the tree and then in about a year it’ll probably start looking like a tree.

That whole process of watering the tree is, you developing skills. That’s your skill development process.

You Can Choose Anything You Want.

We live in such a time when it doesn’t matter what you’re doing right now. 

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been spending the last 20 years, 30 years, 40 years on the thing that you’re doing right now. If you want to change and do something completely different, we live in a world where you can do that and in fact, we are the only creatures on the planet that can do that.

If you think about it, every other animal on the planet or bug or any living being on the planet, even plants and trees, they cannot choose to change. The direction of their life, no matter how long they live… like a 2000 year old olive tree. They can’t choose to change the direction of their life. And if they live in Israel, they can’t say, I want to go visit America, but you know what? We can do this.

Birds that fly south every year, you can’t tell that bird, hey, don’t fly south… well you can if you put them in a cage, but if you let the bird free, the bird will fly south in the winter. Right?

Animals are programmed with just straight programming that they can’t change. We are people, we are programmed as well, but we are programmed with programs that we can change and we can change them at any time that we want. It does require effort, but if you set a big goal, and if you’re not hitting your goal, you can either lower your target or you can increase your efforts.

You can choose the thing that you want to do is more important than the other things that you’re doing right now that you don’t like.

You can choose at any moment to choose that.

Understand that it doesn’t matter where you are in life right now. If you want something else, you just have to point that direction and start taking daily baby steps towards that direction and you’re going to end up there sooner than you think.

Bottom Line is, you can be anything & you can do anything.

00:00Good morning everybody. It’s day 13 by hike, midway through the month and I’m sitting up here listening to these bumblebees.

00:18Do you hear those bumblebees, these huge yellow bumblebees. They’re pollinating the creosote up here. It’s pretty cool watching them. Good morning everybody. It’s day 13 and I’ve got to say this whole process right now is actually at the point where I’m getting a lot of other people. I, I’m, I’m telling my body is tired throughout the day because I’m doing a pretty intense hike in the morning now.It’s not too intense. It’s not like, um, it’s, it’s intense but it’s only like 17 minutes.So of intensity. I’m not like doing a couple of hours here so I think my body can handle it, but I am getting tired because when I get back I have two hours of work to do to upload these videos and get them all up on the blog and stuff and lot more work to do after that. So it’s definitely a brain and body challenge causeI have to be sharp for, you’re right here in the morning, which is training me on some good stuff.

01:18But you got to push through. I mean there’s two things I talked about yesterday in the video.There’s two things you can do. One thing I want to mention about on today’s video, actually today, kind of what I want to talk about, I forgot to mention it on yesterday’s video when we were talking about fears fertilizing your future with your fears.

02:52And today I actually want to talk about one more thing that can keep you from achieving your, because this thing is big and this is actually why my channel is called develop awesome skills, not just because that’s my initials das, but also why it’s called develop awesome skills. Because here’s what happens. You set a big goal and you really want the goal and everybody out there, all these personal development guys and Dave stones telling you that you can go do it, you can doit, you can do anything you want to do. So then you set this big goal and you say, this is what I want. And then you start making your plan to figure out how you’re going to get it. And you realize a couple things. But the main thing you realize is that you don’t have enough skills right now to make that happen.

03:38You don’t have the skillsets to make that happen yet. So here’s the key. When you set a goal, you have to set the goal and then you have to become the person that can achieve that goal. Because if the goal is bigger than you, then you don’t have what it takes yet to fully achieve that goal. So understand that. So you do have what it takes to achieve the goal, but you don’t have all the skills that you need yet, if that makes sense. So that’s what my channel is called. Develop awesome skills because really you just need to figure out what you want and then you have to become the person that can go get it, which means you need to develop some skills probably because your goal is probably going to be big, whatever that goal is.

04:27for instance, when I wanted to start the food forest, I had to develop some skills in order to know what I’m doing. I have something on my nose itches here.

04:39Anyways,

04:42there’s this sign, it’s coming up. Yeah, the part I love and I look tired today, it’s because I am tired. That’s because I am tired, but it’s good. It’s good because I just need to, is when I’m tired. I need to realize I got to increase my effort because I did take big long nap yesterday during the day and I have to keep reminding myself that it’s okay to take a nap and it’s not wasting time. But that’s just me learning how to be nicer to myself because it’s a constant journey

05:12and [inaudible].

05:14So I just want to encourage you, if you don’t have all the skills necessary yet to achieve the dreams that are in your heart, you can go get those skills. But just remember tree doesn’t grow overnight. You can’t plant a seed and expect the treat to grow overnight. You’ve got to take, you’ve got to plant the seed and then you got to take care of that seat. You get a water, the seed, you gotta as the sprout starts germinating, you gotta give it a proper shade. He had a feed the tree and then in about a year it’ll probably start looking like a tree. And the reason I say that is because that whole process of watering that tree that is, you’re developing skills, that’s your skill development process. 06:07Developing awesome skills and they could be anything. You know, I have a lot of different skills. I have a lot of random skills because I’ve been developing awesome skills my entire life. If you know I have a very proficient knowledge in welding, I have a very proficient knowledge and food foresting. I have a very proficient knowledge in the harmonica. Not, I’m not an expert at the harmonica by any means. And I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m an expert in most of these fields, butI’m extremely proficient and I can, I can hang with people, I could talk in the circles, I can actually do the work. And then when it comes to the digital side, as far as movies I can edit, I can do one thing I haven’t learned how to do really is music. But that’s another skill that I could develop and just understand anything you want to learn, you can learn.

06:58And right now you can actually learn it a lot easier than you could have learned it at anytime in our past. You can just choose to, what I call in the book is HTO. You’ve gotta find your HTO, your healthy tools. Okay? It’s H tools. You’ve got to find your HTO and then you have to OL on it. What is your HTO? Your HTO is your healthy topic of obsession. this will help you achieve a goal because once you set a goal and now you’re going to have to figure out how to develop yourself to become that person. So this is where the healthy tools come in. The HTO was your healthy topic of obsession. And I reason I use healthy is because we’re talking about obsessing on something here. And I don’t want you to obsess on something that’s unhealthy because obsession can go both ways.

07:41So find your healthy topic of obsession. And if you just have to use in discernment, find out what healthy is for you. And as long as you deem it healthy and you talk to some mentors, yeah, it’s healthy or whatever, if you have any questions, if it’s healthy, then it may be unhealthy. But really ultimately just dis use discernment. Used some wisdom, finds your healthy topic of obsession and then choose two o l and what’s Oh l it’s obsessed. Learn. And that’s my trick. That’s my tactic. That’s whatI do. I obsessed learn on something. But before you obsess, learn, pick yourHTO, pick a, pick a healthy topic to obsess about. So you become proficient in one area, proficient something. Because really it’s only gonna take you three to nine months to become super proficient in something. And then once you become really proficient in that one thing, now you’re going to have quite a bit of knowledge on that topic. Does that make sense? So you find your healthy tools, which is your HTO, which is your healthy top of good topic of obsession. And then choose to o l on that topic. And that’s obsessed. Learn. That’s what I wanted to

08:55talk about today is, uh, the skills that you’re going to need to become the person that you want to be. You’re gonna need a few more skills and if you need some more skills, just to understand that you can go get them. Because nowadays we live inWikipedia age. We live in the age where we can literally like in the Matrix when neo plugs in his head and he goes, I know Kung Fu, that doesn’t really happen to that quick degree right now, but that plugin is like a nine month plugin in real life. You plug yourself into an obsessed learn situation with the healthy, healthy topic of obsession and in nine months you can learn something really be really good at it. Here’s the other point I want to make. We live in such a time, such at ime when it doesn’t matter what you’re doing right now.

11:52So you can be anything. You can do anything. You can change the direction of your life whenever you want on a whim if you wanted to. But you know, if you’ve been doing something in your feeling stagnant, like you’re in a Rut. This is also what talk about this a little bit in these shareable nugget videos. They’re going to becoming out today. The first one is coming out. These are my full preacher video sare two minutes shareable nuggets with man. I went all in on these bad boys.Anyways, here’s what I want to say. If you’re in a Rut right now, I want you to understand that you can pave your rut paving your Rut requires planning. And heard this long time to go, and I don’t know who I heard this from, but proper planning prevents piss poor performance, proper planning prevents Piss.

12:39Poor performance, proper planning prevents Piss, poor performance, sex. So always plan, always prepare. We’re always planning, we’re always preparing, but right now we’ve got to plan and prepare for our future and when we plan and prepare for our future, we got to plan and prepare for something that we don’t have yet.Unless we’re planning and preparing for our past right now, that’s what we’re gonna get. We’re going to keep getting the cycle of our past and we don’t change the pattern that’s been causing our past. So we need a plan for the future, but that means we need to plan for something different. You got to believe that you can have the thing that you want. Then you got to take some steps to go get it daily.But if what you want is completely out of the realm of what you’re doing right now, you’re going to have so many people around you that are right at your level right now.

13:37They’re going to be like, why do you want to change? Like aren’t you happy with where you are? Like, well, I mean, are you just, you know, people are gonna want to keep you where you are. So if you have a big goal, you might have to enter a cocoon more often. You might have to mute the noise. This is part of my daily chaos filter. If you guys want to ever get a course, I developed a whole course called the daily chaos filter that you can, you can install in your brain and it’ll help you move to these chaotic times without getting dropped. If a chaotic time would have taken you a week or two weeks or a year, or change the whole course of your life, but you in a depression. Now you can install this daily chaos filter to where when you hit the daily chaos, boom, you just move right through it, right through it. So that’s the daily chaos filter. But that’s what I did because of the first rule of daily chaos filter is to mute the noise, mute the noise, the noise, everybody, the static around you. You know what? The noise is. Mute it. HitMute. What is the noise? The noise is news. The noises, the news, the news.Yeah. Don’t listen to the news. I mean the news, entertainment, everybody. The news is not the news. The news is entertainment.

14:57Anyways,

14:59where am I going with all this? Let me find my train tracks again

15:05if you are. So let me get back to the beginning on fears. If you are afraid of achieving goal, it could be because you’re afraid of becoming the person that you will need to become to achieve that goal because you’re going to have to change somethings. You’re gonna have to learn some things. You have to become better. You got to do some daily disciplines that requires some time. Patience, practice, repetition, those. But this is for yourself. When you think about it, it might suck doing all that kind of stuff for other, uh, job that you hate, but it’s not going to sub doing that stuff for you. So just understand that you’re worth it. You can do this stuff for you, but you are worth developing more skills. If you want something that you don’t have right now, you can go get it.

15:54You can change the direction of your life right now. I changed the direction of my life already twice in my life and my life is kind of short already. I’m, I’m all, I’m not even 40 yet. So the first time I changed direction in my life was I was 26 I was in real estate in a career field, made $1 million, and then I changed the entire direction of my life and I didn’t, I quit. People were like, why don’t you keep your license? They’re like, why don’t you keep your, your backup plan? And I learned really young, you can’t have a backup plan if you want to do something really all in. I say that now and I’m gonna question that comment. But I never had backup plan. I always chose to delete my backup plan. I don’t want a back up plan. I have a plan.

16:38I want to achieve the plan, a backup plan. I mean, I’m not really sure that I’m going to achieve my plan, but I’m intense. I wouldn’t recommend that everybody be like that necessarily yet until I really think that through. But I have heard from other people burn the ships, get their burden, the ships, then you get venue like after make it happen. And that’s, I’ve found that to be true. It’s pretty hardcore concept but I found it to be true. So I hope you guys got some value out of today’s episode. I just want you all to develop on some skills and know that you can do anything you want and if you find that it’s going to be difficult to do anything you want, that’s okay. Make it happen anyway cause you can do it. But I love you so much. You’re incredible. You have gold in your mind but it will never be found on the surface.

17:20You always have to dig for your goal. And digging is setting daily intentional goals. How do you dig? You said daily intentional goals. You get up in the morning, your morning cocoon. Right now. My morning cocoon involves hiking and that’s good for me. But for the first beginning of the year, it didn’t. In fact, I didn’t have any exercise in my morning routine, which wasn’t a good thing. It was all mental exercise, a lot of mental exercise, a lot of mental work. But no, uh, no consistent physical. And if you just do, uh, some pushups once a day, every month, that’s not physical exercise. Physical exercise requires consistency daily. You’ve got to take a break here and there, a day, a day, a break in your day to recover. That’s okay. But consistency, consistency, consistency. You’re worth it. That’s why. So love you so much. You’re incredible and I hope you have a great weekend.
